This is the second-to-last day of our Christmas break. It’s been a good couple of weeks. We went skating—twice, played board games and card games with the children, went swimming, sledding, and did an art project.
I don’t know why it is, but I’m always dragging my feet when it comes to playing with the kids. Maybe it’s because I’m with them all day—every day, homeschooling, overseeing chores etc. When I get the chance, I tend to want to do my own projects or be by myself.
It was like that today. I was having a peaceful walk on the driveway while the children sledded, and I got this nudge like I should go and play with them. And so I did…dragging my feet the whole way to the sledding hill. I ended up having a blast. I always do. I zipped along behind William(4), and at the bottom of the hill, he jumped up and said with red cheeks and shining eyes, “That was crazy!”
With just 30 minutes of sledding, I blessed my children and burned 200 calories. Not bad.
I learned a lesson too; putting on snow pants and boots really is worth the trouble. I think that I would have enjoyed myself even more if snow wasn’t working its way down my pants!
Have a great week! I’ll leave you with a picture that a friend took last week.
